Jacqueline Lou (Felker) Mulhern, 82, of Madison, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison.
Born in Mishawaka, Ind., to Arnold and Geraldine (Clark) Felker, she grew up in Peshtigo and attended nursing school at Madison General Hospital, graduating in 1957. She served in the United States Army National Guard for 11 years and at age 56 was in the desert in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War Conflict. She was proud of her time there and to have served her country.
After 47 years, she finished as a psychiatric nurse, dedicated herself to the clients of Yahara House and believed and had a passion for mental health support.
She enjoyed feeding and watering the birds and reading, but most important were family and friends. She lived her life as it ended, with class and dignity.
She is survived by three children, Michael Mulhern, Julie Mulhern and Jennifer (Daniel) Keyes; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Felker.
Visitation will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison on Thursday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Donations can be made to Madison VA Hospital, Yahara House, or Bethel Lutheran Church. Ryan Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Madison is assisting the family with arrangements.
