Donald Lee Gilbertson, 82, of Gillett, passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 at Evergreen Nursing Home in Shawano.
Born June 20, 1936 at home in the Town of Green Valley, to the late William and Pauline (Hansen) Gilbertson, he attended local schools and married Laurice F. (Madison) on June 21, 1958. They raised three children and farmed together for many years in the Town of Gillett.
An active member of Bethel Lutheran Church, he served in many capacities, including Church Council. In earlier years, he played Church dartball and was involved with 4-H. He never had a harsh word for anyone, had many friends. and had a smile for all and had a good sense of humor.
He is survived by three children, Colleen (Ronnie) Thomson, Janalee (Jesse) Jenerou and Kyle (Robin) Gilbertson; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol (Keith) Hansen; a sister-in-law, Christine Gilbertson; a brother-in-law, Jacob Prahl and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 54 years, Laurice; two sisters, Margaret (Leonard) Hicks and Charlotte Prahl and a brother, Charles Gilbertson.
Friends and relatives may call at Legacy Funeral Chapels, 108 E. Main Street, Gillett on Thursday, Sept. 27 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at Bethel Lutheran Church, N6955 County Road BB, Oconto Falls on Friday, Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bill Gruenstern officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery followed by a reception and meal in the Church hall.
