American Legion 66 Hosts Annual Chili Fest

The annual Chili Fest was Sept. 22nd at the Silver Cliff Memorial Park hosted by the American Legion Post /Unit 66 of Athelstane/Silver Cliff. The proceeds are used for scholarships for area students. There were 27 different kinds of soup and chili to sample and a country store which offers homemade bakery. Proceeds from the Country Store are given to the Children's Miracle Network.
There were 14 entries in the soup contest with 1st place winner Ben Klein with his cheeseburger soup. Second went to Susie Miller with her white chicken chili and 3rd was Kathi Miller with her country vegetable soup.
The Dual Sport Riders of Wisconsin attend the Chili Fest every year during one of their annual bike rides. Members from Post /Unit 66 were busy this year preparing for the anticipated 270 plus the public who try the different soups. Unit 66 members made 15 sheet pans of cherry, apple and blueberry pies to sell on the dessert table.
