Born Sept. 20, 1938 in Plymouth, to the late Ezra and Lydia (Haut) Charles, the family moved to Sheboygan when he was young, where he made friends with the boys around the block that he remained friends with. After graduation, he served in the United States Army and just missed being sent to Korea. He was introduced to Sandra Dankmeyer in the late 1970's and they married in April of 1980, enjoying 38 years together.
He worked at Pitney Bowes most of his life and retired early to the house on Town Corner Lake in Pembine and enjoyed long drives, boating and 4th of July picnics.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Charles; a daughter, Amy Charles; two sons, Dane Charles and Randy (Christine) Page; a grandchild and a sister, Lavonne Paasch.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carlene and her husband, Fredrick Tasche and a brother-in-law, David Paasch.
Visitation will be held at Schulta Funeral Home in Wittenberg on Saturday, Oct. 20 from noon until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Forest Home Cemetery in Wittenberg, followed by a remembrance luncheon at Maple Hills Golf Course in Wittenberg at approximately 2:30 p.m. Memorials can be made to an Animal Shelter of one's choice in his memory. Hotel options are available for those who do not want to make the long drive home.
