Booyah Fest Raises $3000 for Veterans
Issue Date: October 11, 2018
Crivitz-The Booyah Fest for Vets, co-sponsored by Crivitz VFW Post 2063 and Gateway Bar and Grill and held Saturday, was a big success. The event raised almost $3000 for the Marinette County Veterans Emergency Assistance Fund.
Tom Doyle, Marinette County Veteran's Service Officer, attended the event and provided this information on the fund and the Booyah Fest:
"The Veterans Emergency Assistance Fund provides approximately $3,000 per year to Marinette County veterans and their dependents. The fund has been successful in helping veterans in the time of need to help overcome temporary emergencies. Things happen. Life happens. Through this program, people of Marinette County are helping veterans from Marinette County. It's a good example of neighbors helping neighbors. Every dollar donated to this program goes back to veterans and their dependents of Marinette County. It's events like the Booyah Fest that allow us to help even more vets in the time of need, " Doyle concluded.
Music was provided by Eddie's Crew, a local four-man group playing a variety of tunes. Appropriately, they started their set with the playing of the Star Spangled Banner followed by their own rendition of the service songs. Members of the Gateway Bar & Grill staff helped run the paddle wheel raffle while volunteers handled the 50/50 raffle. There was also a special drawing for a handmade, metal American flag.
Many thanks go to the management and staff of Gateway Bar and Grill, Pelkin's Smokey Meats, Eddie's Crew, and the volunteers who helped with the event.
