Helen C. Suminski , 100, passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at Rennes Health Care Center-East.
Born April 28, 1918 in Crystal Falls, Mi., to the late Stanley and Martha (Dobras) Banach, Sr., she attended local schools. She married Walter P. Suminski on June 27, 1959 and he preceded her in death on April 10, 1995.
She worked at Badger Paper Mills for 50 years, starting Oct. 20, 1938 and retired in 1988. A member of the Badger Anniversary and Retirement Clubs, she was the first employee to reach 50 years of service.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Peshtigo, Christian Mothers, St. Mary's Women of Faith, Peshtigo Historical Society and was on the board of Directors and a volunteer at Peshtigo Food Pantry. She enjoyed traveling, being in all 50 states, plus 10 foreign countries and many cruises. She enjoyed watching all types of sports.
She is survived by a special nephew, Ronald Banach; a niece and nephew, Amanda and Nickolas Banach; other nieces; nephews and many friends.
Along with her husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley Jr., Walter and Richard, Sr. Banach and three sisters-in-laws, Darlene Banach, Rose Banach and Rose Suminski;
Visitation will be held at Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home in Peshtigo on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, Nov. 16 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Peshtigo from 10 a.m. until time of a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Fr. Jess Berdol will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo.
