Joseph F. Kopke Jr., 95, of Pensaukee, passed away Tuesday, Nov 6, 2018.
Born Oct. 20, 1923 in Milwaukee, to the late Joseph and Rose Kopke, the family moved to Pensaukee where he attended the Brick Country School House and married the love of his life, Elaine Conrad on April 15, 1944. He worked construction, had a dairy farm, later raised beef cattle and owned and operated the 41 Truck Stop in Suamico and Kopke and Sons Auto Salvage in Pulaski.
He served as a Pensaukee Town Supervisor and Chairman, helped establish the Pensaukee Fire Department, remaining an active member until age 88, was an active member of the M&O Bee Keepers, a Gold Star Parent and a member of St. Patrick's Church in Stiles.
He is survived by a son, Henry (Linda) Kopke; four daughters, Diane Kopke, Rita (Alan) Garbrecht, Jane (Michael) Specht and Dr. Carol Kopke; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Elaine; three sons, Roger, Joseph III and Timothy Kopke; two grandsons; a brother, Raymond and a sister, Bernadine Zimanek.
Family greeted relatives and friends at Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home in Oconto on Friday, Nov. 9 from 4 p.m. until time of the Wake Service at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Patrick's Church in Stiles on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. until time of the service at 11 a.m. Burial was in the Church Cemetery.
