THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Issue Date: December 20, 2018
Eileen (Kmecheck) Heider, 82, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Saturday, Dec.15, 2018 at Bellin Health while she was under their Hospice care.
Born March 8, 1936 in Menominee County, to the late Samuel and Gladys (Rotter) Kmecheck, she married Lawrence Treptow and they had five children.
After her divorce from Lawrence, she married Eugene Heider and after 15 years of marriage, he passed away from lung cancer. She then met Doug Salewsky and they traveled all over the United States doing many Navy reunions until his passing from lung cancer.
She worked at Vernco (Emerson), LE Jones and Anchor Coupling. In breathing in second hand smoke at home and work, it contributed to her health problems. When she knew it was going to be her time, she made arrangements and gave instructions about her wishes before she passed. She talked to each of her children telling them she loved them and said good bye as we told her we loved her too.
Survivors include five children, Connie (Kip) McKenney of Marinette, Bill (Cindy) Treptow, Sandy (Dale) Barber, Kathy (Mike) Utke and Judy (Gary) Sadowski, all of Menominee; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barb (Joe) Martin; two brothers, Loren Kmecheck and Gerald Kmecheck and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Ralph Dubrock and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kmecheck and Patricia Kmecheck.
Family will receive friends at Anderson Kell Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 21 from 4 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 6 p.m., with Pastor Mark Laatsch officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of other forms of sympathy, memorial donations may be directed to a family member.
