Thunder Roll In Two Weeks of Nice Wins

The M&M Thunder High School Hockey Team finished the first half of their season with a 23-2-1 record after winning all four games this past weekend. The Thunder hosted Negaunee Iron Range on Saturday at the Marinette Civic Center and defeated their guests 6-2 and 10-1. They then traveled to Marquette MI, were they won 7-2 and 4-1. The Thunder will now be off the ice for the holidays and return to action at home on January 5 when they host Dodgeville followed by two games against a U18 Sault Saint Marie team from Canada.



M&M Thunder 6 Negaunee Iron Range 2

After a scoreless 1st period, the Thunder fell behind 2-0 in the second period only to respond with 6 unanswered goals to win 6-2. Wesley Knutson scored unassisted, Justin Netemeyer scored on an assist by Nick Kehoe, Adam Mejdoub scored unassisted, Adam Lemery scored on assists from Jason Bowers and Matt Swenson, Adam Mejdoub on assists by Lemery and Ryan Moreau, and Netemeyer on assists by Knutson and Aidan Bohaczek. Braeden Park earned the victory in net with 12 saves. The Thunder had 45 shots on goal in the victory.



M&M Thunder 10 Negaunee Iron Range 1

Wes Knutson scored early in the first period on an assist by Cade Fernstrum, Paul Nash then scored on an assist by Fernstrum followed by Knutson unassisted to give the Thunder a 3-0 lead after one period. Nash scored again to start the 2nd period on assists by Knutson and Fernstrum, Knutson from Lemery, Knutson from Netemeyer and Fernstrum, Netemeyer from Knustson and Jacob Pantti, Bowers from Eathan Koch, Kehoe unassisted and finally Alex Freeman from Mejdoub and Bohaczek. Niya Patneaude got the victory between the pipes with 24 saves. The Thunder put 38 shots on goal in the victory.



M&M Thunder 7 Marquette Midgets 2

A short handed Thunder team traveled North to Marquette and after a scoreless first period struck first on an unassisted goals by Justin Netemeyer and Nick Kehoe, Adam Lemery scored on assists by Aidan Bohaczek and Paul Nash giving the Thunder a 3-2 lead after two periods. Wesley Knutson scored three goals in the third period on assists by Nash, and two assists by Fernstrum to give the Thunder breathing room. Bowers scored on an assist by Bohaczek for the final points in the game. Braeden Park was victorious in net will 18 saves. The Thunder put 39 shots on goal.



M&M Thunder 4 Marquette Midgets 1

After another scoreless 1st period, Knutson scored on assists from Fernstrum and Netemeyer, Netemeyer scored on an assist by Knutson, Knutson scored on assists by Nash and Netemeyer. Netemeyer scored the last goal of the day on assists by Fernstrum and Knutson. Niya Patneaude earned the victory by stopping 7 shots and the Thunder had 37 shots on goal in the victory.

Big Weekend for M&M Thunder on the Road

The M&M Thunder continue to rack up the wins.

The Thunder win-loss column is filled with "W" over the last month, as the Marinette/Menominee squad hasn't lost since Nov. 17. Over the weekend, the team added three more wins in the Madison area.

On Friday, the Thunder beat Dodgeville 5-2. The Thunder scored two in the first period to put them ahead for good. Wesley Knutson scored three times, Cade Fernstrum had one and Jordan Carvenough had one. Paul Nash and Knutson had assists.

Braeden Park started in the net and saved 20 of 22 shots that came his way.

Against Middleton on Saturday, the Thunder scored six in the second period and finished with an 8-0 win.

Knutson again scored three. Carvenough scored two and Matthew Swenson, Alexander Freeman and Justin Netemeyer each had one. Fernstrum, Knutson and Ethan Koch had two assists each.

Niya Patneaude started in the net, saving 13 of 13 shots. Park was back in the net for round three, with the Thunder taking the approach of alternating goaltenders throughout the season, with both playing good hockey so far this season.

The Thunder beat Waunakee on Saturday evening, led again by Knutson, who finished with 10 goals for the weekend, bagging four more with an assist in a 7-1 win.

Jason Bowers, Justin Netemeyer and Koch each scored. Netemeyer and Fernstrum had two assists apiece, Knutson, Aidan Bohaczek and Carvenough each had one.

Park saved 13 of 14 shots in the win.
