Craig A. Rolfs, 78, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.
Born May 3, 1940 in Waterloo, Ia., to Dr. Floyd O. and Jean Rolfs, he graduated from Parkersburg High School in Parkersburg, Ia., from University of South Dakota in 1962 and from Drake Law School in Des Moines, Ia. in 1965. He practiced law in Parkersburg where he served as County Attorney for Butler County, Ia.
In 1973 he moved to the Menominee area and practiced law with the Anuta and Minerman Law Office. In December of 1975 he was appointed by Judge Ernest Brown as Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney, holding that position until being appointed by Gov. Milliken to be Menominee County Judge of Probate in 1979.
On May 1, 2002, he married Monica J. Crandall in Rhinelander. He loved golf, Jeopardy and doing the New York Times crossword puzzles. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry and was the treasurer.
He is survived by his wife, Monica; three sons, Robert and Scott, both from Denver, Co. and Matthew (Kimberly) of Moreland, Ga.; a step-daughter, Roberta (David) Eickmeyer of Wallace; step-sons, Scott of Menominee and Christopher (Amy) of Hahira, Ga.; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Marilyn Wright of Denver, Co. and a brother, John R. (Suzanne) Rolfs of Brainerd, Mn.
A Memorial Service was held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Marinette on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Glenn Kanestrom officiate. The family greeted friends after the service. Donations in his name can be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette assisted the family with arrangements.
