Marinette County Has Tenth Traffic Fatality

Marinette County recorded it's tenth traffic fatality in a single vehicle crash in the Town of Peshtigo on Sunday, December 23. Marinette County Dispatch Center received the call at approximately 8 p.m. and deputies were sent to Shore Drive, just south of Leaf Road.
The victim of the crash was identified as Edward V. Mareno age 42, who resided in the Town of Peshtigo. Investigators believe the car was traveling north at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marinette County Coroner's Office. The victim suffered head and internal injuries. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
Assisting at the scene in addition to the Marinette County Sheriff's Department were the Town of Peshtigo Fire Department, Emergency Rescue Squad, Bay Area Paramedics and Marinette County Coroner's Office. The crash remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff's Department and Coroner's office.
