Ruth Ann (Zapka) Freeman, 78, of Marinette, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born Oct. 28, 1940, to the late Robert and Julia (Viola) Zapka in Chicago, Ill., she married Roy Franklin Freeman Jr. in Chicago on April 23, 1960 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1994. The family moved to Marinette in 1987 and she then moved to Chicago in 1994, returning to Marinette in 2012.
She enjoyed drinking coffee, especially on Wednesdays with Brenda, cooking, playing cards, watching the news and home shows and going to garage sales and thrift stores, but especially loved time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Robert of Marinette, James of Menominee, and Joseph (Tabitha) of Mazon, Ill.; a daughter, Karen (William) LaBombard of Marinette; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special nieces, Lisa and Lorraine and a special friend, Jeff Paulin.
In addition to her parents and husband, Roy, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie; a granddaughter, Talia; two brothers, Steve and Bob and a sister, Alice.
Visitation was held at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Sunday, Dec. 30 from 2 p.m. until time of the funeral services at 4 p.m. Deacon Steve Gretzinger officiated with burial in Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Marinette.
