James "Jim" M. Arvanites, 60, of Beaver Dam, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at home.
Born June 24, 1958 in Cook County, Ill., to Nancy L. (Young) and James B. Arvanites, he married Mary Selby on Feb. 2, 2007 in Marinette and worked as a carpenter.
He enjoyed fishing, biking, listening to music, cooking, cleaning and helping other people.
Survivors include his life partner, Mary of Marinette; a son, Timothy Chelikas of Illinois; his father, James Arvanites of Beaver Dam; his mother, Nancy Wiersma of Illinois; four siblings, Diana (Rich) Kurzweil of Beaver Dam, John (Lisa) Arvanites of Illinois, Nicole Rivoli of Las Vegas and Nancy Wiersma of Oregon and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Gail Meyers; step-father, John Wiersma; a brother Anthony J. Arvanites and other relatives.
A Memorial Gathering was held Saturday, Dec. 29 at Cornerstone Funeral and Cremation Services in Beaver Dam from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
