Katherine M. Buchner, 86, of Iron Mountain, Mi., formerly a longtime resident of Pembine, passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at Dickinson County Healthcare System in Iron Mountain.
Born Jan. 15, 1933, in Dunbar, to the late Kenneth and Harriet (Newling) Smith, she grew up in Pembine and graduated from Pembine High School in 1951. She married Allen Buchner on June 7, 1951 at First Presbyterian Church in Pembine where they lived and he preceded her in death 2004. She worked as a waitress for many years at the Port Restaurant, the Boat Factory in Wausaukee and for over 10 years at the Quinnesec Paper Mill in security, retiring in 2006.
She enjoyed golfing at Four Seasons, bowling and embroidery, but cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Bob (Lisa) Buchner, Iron Mountain; two daughters, Bonnie (Wally) Rogers, Menasha and Charlene (Paul) Linsmeyer, Vulcan, Mi.; a brother, Kenneth Smith, Neenah; a sister, Vivian Weiss, Spokane, Wa. and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Allen, she was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Joseph Buchner and a brother, Dennis Smith.
Visitation will be held at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain on Sunday, March 10 from 1 p.m. until time of sharing at 2 p.m., with her niece, Lori Gravell leading in the sharing of memories.
