Issue Date: March 21, 2019

Editor:

In the beginning GOD created the heavens and the EARTH Genesis 1:1. Because of our nation's rebellion against God, we elect childish legislators, (... "capricious children will rule over them." Isaiah 3:4b), including the one elected in New York who frantically tells us we will destroy the earth in 12 years. While at the same time, they see no problem destroying human lives in the womb or after being born. (Don't think that the infirm and elderly won't be next.) Therein lies the problem. They fail to see what will incur God's wrath against humanity which in turn will hasten His destruction of the planet we call home. The concept of God creating the earth is all but lost in today's society. Evolution has replaced faith in God with faith in chance, both, by the way, are religions. And let me say, faith in the intricacies evolution demands including all life, DNA, the constance of 4 seasons, the air we breathe, our sight, hearing, speech, and the ability to think, etc. take a whole lot more faith than I can muster. God's words seem more relevant today than ever before; "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." Romans 1:22 The time of the destruction of this earth is rapidly approaching. But make no mistake, God will sustain this earth until His time of destruction is reached and then He will do it, not us. In the meantime, He lovingly protects His creation, including the earth and the people He created to populate it.

There seems to be a direct correlation between mankind's sinful wickedness and the natural disasters we see on every hand. Changes in the weather, storms, flooding, famine, earthquakes, and on and on. Which are a direct sign of the end times spoken about by Jesus"...there will be famines and earthquakes," Matthew 24:7b Read Matthew 24:3-12. You see, in spite of people's disbelief and the rejecting of His very existence, He still loves us. He is giving us time to repent and believe in Jesus Christ, the only One who can save us. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not die but have everlasting life."

Hear the warning of 2 Peter 3:10, "But the Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise and the elements shall melt with fervent heat; the EARTH also and the works that are in it shall be burned up."

Yes, the earth will be destroyed, but we will not do it with carbon emissions or anything else. Only our rebellion against the Lord Jesus will necessitate that. "...but except your repent, you will all perish." Luke 13:3

The Lord is giving the people of this planet a little more time, but His patience will run out. "The Lord...is patient toward you not wishing for anyone to perish but for all to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9 But Hebrews 10:31 gives this dire warning; "It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the Living God." People can continue to defy and deny the Lord in spite of this ominous warning or repent and believe...He made it simple, didn't He?

Sincerely,

Jerry Parker

Dear Editor:

I am writing about Aquila's attempt to force something on our north woods communities that the majority of us did not ask for or want. Aquila's methods in dealing with the public, their response to their inadequate applications and amendments remind me of an old joke my father-in-law, Alvin Anderson, used to tell.

The joke goes: A man is walking by a tailor shop and the tailor yells out, "Great deals on new suits!" The man says, "I'm not looking to buy a new suit." The tailor says, "Wonderful! I have just what you want right here." The tailor shows the man a suit. "No. That suit is too fancy, wrong color and has no pockets!" Tailor, "Nonsense, this suit is right in style. It's the most popular color and pockets are a nuisance anyway. Try it on!" So the man puts on the suit and asks the tailor for a mirror. The tailor says, "I have no mirror but you look fabulous! Take my word for it!" The man asks for his clothes back and the tailor says, "Sorry, I put them in the greasy rag barrel."

The man pays the tailor for the suit and leaves. On the street he meets three gentlemen and he says to them, "How do you like my new suit?" The first gentleman says, "Okay, but I see the left sleeve is quite a bit longer than the right one." The second says, "Yes and the right lapel is turned up terribly." The third says, "The crotch is really low. Isn't it uncomfortable?" The man with the new suit says, "I'm going right back to that tailor to complaint!"

The tailor listens to the man's complaints, "Don't be upset. We just need to make a few adjustments. We can fix this. Just extend your left arm straight out and raise it above your head. You see the sleeve length is adjustable. Now turn your head to the right and place your chin over your right lapel. It's not sticking up anymore. Now take your right hand and put it between your legs and pull it up two inches. Yes, just like that. There! If I only had a mirror you could see how amazing you look! Thanks for letting me fix it for you.!

So the man leaves the tailor shop walking awkwardly away. As he passes a couple, one whispers to the other, "Did you see that crippled old man!" The other answers, "Yes but didn't his suit fit him well!"

Funny, but with Aquila, it's no joke! We don't want the mine! We didn't ask for it! It doesn't fit us! Aquila will ruin what we have! Please help! Contact jointherivercoalition@gmail.com.

Letter to Editor:

I AGREE with the letter last week pertaining to abortion. I feel it's good to call out our congressmen/women for what we feel, in our opinion, is not appropriate. If President Trump had a cure for cancer and wanted congressional approval, Tammy Baldwin would vote NO.

I believe that abortion is wrong at any stage. And now, to consider the purposeful death of a viable newborn, is basically murder. Once that child is born, it has the same human and civil rights as the rest of your kids at home. Obviously this little newborn needs an advocate who can help find adoptive parents. For Ms. Baldwin to say what she said is just a liberal response to earn votes. I guess I find it hard to believe that a mother would decide on the death of her living, viable infant if she didn't want it. I also find it hard to believe that she doesn't want the best for that baby by finding adoptive parents so the infant can be loved and nurtured. How can someone deprive a little life from that journey to what could become a successful life. And to think that this will be on the platform of the democrat party come next election!!! That's why they want open borders, so they can get more votes fro illegal immigrants. They make such an issue with so much media coverage about babies and small children being "snatched" from the "alleged" parents/illegal immigrants at the border but they can pass bills to kill our innocent babies at birth!! The ""snatching" at the border is for the child's protection as it's questionable who the parents are. The "killing" of babies at birth is because they're not wanted! That's horrific!

All in all, it scares me to think what will happen to this country if any of these democrat candidates become president. Kamala Harris just discovered a way to get people to think the same way! In other words, she wants to control our minds! Then, Beto is another interesting soul with the distracting arm movements. He did NOTHING during his term in congress. So he raises lots of money but who knows where that money originates from. And, he reminds me of someone who didn't make the high school football team so is now trying out for the NFL! His literary works are bizarre and that makes you wonder what kind of a person he really is? Bernie Sanders really doesn't know what a job is as he hasn't held too many of those if any. And Biden didn't get it done during the last regime, so he should just give up and join the old folks at the pool or track. Cory Booker wants a live-in girlfriend in the White House as First Lady! And the rest share the socialist values as the above. These people have extreme socialistic ideas with government control on EVERYTHING including your mind. George Schultz is running as an independent as he can't identify with the democrats anymore. His ideas haven't changed over the years from the talk shows and has been fairly consistent plus he's an international business man with people skills and makes a good cup of coffee. But, haven't hung up the MAGA hat because Trump fights for the American people and protects us. He isn't afraid to call out or meet with foreign countries who are against us and puts sanctions on them. His job record speaks for itself. I can't picture these democrat/socialist candidates doing that as they lack the skill of the "Deal". He is the only one running for President who has given the voice to the American people. The rest want the government to control us. And, the recent CNN Poll revealed 71% of Americans approve of the present economy and 51% approve of President Trump. That was shocking coming from CNN! So why must we have to return to poverty with the socialist rhetoric? Basically, I look at the issues and how they will affect the lives of my children and grandchildren relative to their livelihood and Christian walk. I want to read out of my same old Bible and sing out of my old hymnal without being arrested for not being politically correct with the words. And, we can thank our present president for that!

I'm not interested in Socialism which is basically Communism. They call it democratic socialism but it's still the same doom and gloom stuff. All of the fighting and poverty in Venezuela doesn't appeal to me as I've always enjoyed the values that our country was founded upon.

It's scary, but, if you've ever read and studies the book of Revelation, I can see the handwriting on the wall. I'm so thankful that I'm a Bible believing Christian, as God will protect me and my fellow believers through this turmoil which will not be pretty.

Mrs. Irene Pillath,

Letter to Editor:

Congratulations to Law and Order Sheriff Jerry Sauve and the Marinette County Sheriff's Department for a job well done in solving the McClintock Park murders. I was a young man working on my parents' northern Door County dairy farms when I first heard of these murders on Marinette's WLST radio station back in summer of 1976. In my 25 years of living in Marinette County, it has always been unsettling to know we may have a murderer in our midst  Again Congratulations and Thank You for a job well done!

Sincerely,

Arthur F. Lautenbach

To the Editor,

Spring elections are notorious for low voter turnout. But consider this April 2nd election. The ramifications are huge as the outcome could determine the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court for decades if not a generation.

Judge Brian Hagedorn believes that as a Supreme Court justice, his job will be to say what the law is and not what he thinks it should be. He has followed that letter of the law his entire career as an appellate court judge. Hagedorn's opponent Lisa Neubauer, has shown she will be an activist who will decide cases based on personal ideology and use the court to push an agenda of her special interest allies.

Her special interest allies are behind the smears against Judge Hagedorn, attacking his faith, which by the way has never played a part in his legal decisions. Neubauer claimed she would never accept special interest money but now the former Attorney General of the United States who was held in contempt of congress, Eric Holder, has contributed $350,000 to Neubauer. The next time you see a Neubauer campaign ad on TV, imagine the word "Hypocrite" across the screen. Make an effort to vote for "The Rule of Law"...and honesty with Judge Hagedorn.

Letter to Editor:

Are the veteran organizations becoming extensions of Trump for money? I ask that question because of this President's unwillingness to respect and honor veterans he does not like. If a President does not like or disapproves of a veterans beliefs that is a personal matter that needs to be kept private. When he makes a public statement by whatever medium, it becomes a statement from the office. Mr. Trump has made several highly disrespectful and false statements toward fallen heroes including highly disrespectful and hurtful statements of a fallen hero during the campaign, and most recently about John McCain. We have two holiday that honor our living and deceased veterans and by extension our active duty personnel. For the President, many Republicans, and veterans groups, it is conditional on factors of the day of the year, and beliefs. By not defending the honor and respect for service and sacrifice loudly and with absolute clarity so the general public clearly hears, these groups become a voice of silent approval of Mr. Trump and what I believe is disrespect to the office of President of the United States and this country as a whole. President Eisenhower warned the nation many years ago of the threat of greed from the military-industrial complex. I believe it is here with a President who I believe is corrupt.
