Dorothea J. (Schuchart ) Wunderlich, 96, of Marinette, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born July 12, 1922, to the late John and Bessie (Solper) Schuchart in Menominee, she graduated from Marinette High School in 1940 and served in the United States Navy as a Wave from March 7, 1944 until April 6, 1946. On June 19, 1948, she married George Wunderlich in Marinette and he preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2003. She worked as a Clerk in the Marinette Selective Services office until the end of the draft and then worked for Marinette County Department of Social Services until retiring.
They spent many winters in Florida and spent summers in Marinette County where they entertained the children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, John (Kathi) Wunderlich of Green Bay and Gary Wunderlich of Athelstane; a daughter, Peggy (Robert) Kornetzke of Plymouth; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, George, she was preceded in death by a son David; a daughter Maribeth and a brother, Richard Schuchart.
Visitation was held at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Tuesday, March 19 from 4 p.m. until time of a Wake Service at 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, March 20 at Holy Family Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Taylor St at 11 a.m. Rev. Celestine Byekwaso officiated, with burial in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette.
