Stegeman Is M&O Basketball MVP

Issue Date: March 28, 2019

The M&O all conference voting was turned out to the public and leading the way in this year voting were none other than the 2018-19 M&O conferrence champion Crivitz Wolverines. The Wolverine took the lions share of the voting with two selections.

However, taking the top spot for the season was Suring's tall guy, Mitch Stegeman, who was billed as this season's Most Outstanding Basketball player for his effort with the Eagles.

The Wolverines had two this season and they were most definitely deserving. Without these two harwood artists the season would have been painted much differently for the powerhouse Wolverines.

Dawson Andrist took one of those two spots for the Crivitz guys. Anyone who had a chance to see Andrist play this year knows that Andrist packs a competitive punch on the court. Not always matched up in height, Andrist has employed superior athleticism is his efforts to get to the hoop. Speed and quick reflexes made all the difference for this hungry shooter.

Joining Andrist was the other side of the Wolverine coin in Jaden Werner. If it wasn't Andrist who was leading his offense into the fray it was Werner battling in the paint. Like the aforementioned Wolverine Werner certainly isn't lacking in talent and athleticism. The short shooter never let a few inchs of height stop him from making plays on some of the best area court talent. Werner's court awarenesss and vision played a key part in the succes and fluidity of the Wolverine scoring attack.

Mitch Stegeman of Suring was this year most outstanding basketball player. Whether it was bringing down a rebound of firing off a deep three, Stegeman was the Eagles go-to. Stegeman really was the whole package for the Eagles this season, he was more than tough to shoot over or get past. Some of the best timed steals of the season were perpetrated by the quick length Eagle.

Cole Long took a spot on the first team list for the Tiger of Gillett.

Coleman also saw one of their leaders make the first team list this season as Peyton Nelson was selected. The Cougar stalwart found scoring opportunities where ever they presented themselves this season and the Cougars were loving it. Nelson was a major factor in this years race for the conference crown, which saw Crivitz and Coleman lock horns near the end of the season, and you better belive the first place Wolverines were looking for Nelson over their shoulders.

The second team list saw another Wolverine make a name for himself. Chandler Kaldenberg was the blue and gold baller. He played an integral role in the paint this season for the Wolverines, using his height and vertical ability to rack up the put backs.

Mitch Stegamen's main wingman this season Caleb Lally worked his way onto the second team list this season while Cayden Bintz, Nelson's favorite back up made his way there for Coleman.

Wausaukee was recognized with the second team selection of Brandon Shigouri, a quick on his toes scoring machine for the Rangers.

Oneida's Javon"Webster also was selected to the M&O's second team.

Receiving honorable mentions this season were Lena's Max Beyer and Oneida's David Danforth. Coleman's Preston Gusick and St. Thomas Aquinas's Alex Powers also got a nod. Nick Teteak was also recognized for his effort with Coleman along with Wausaukee's other leading man Christian Shigouri.
