Peshtigo's Parrett Wrestles His Way to Packerlands Top Team
Issue Date: March 28, 2019
Nick Parrett is a good example of hard work paying off for a high school athlete.
Parrett didn't go to state as a freshman or enter the program as a highly touted youth wrestler, but he steadily improved throughout his career, finishing his senior season as Peshtigo's MVP and a first-team selection in the Packerland Conference.
Parrett started wrestling as a sophomore. Last year, wrestling in the 126-pound weight class, Parrett went 16-14, taking third at regionals. This year, he nearly doubled his win total while jumping up two weight classes to 138.
"He worked hard in the offseason," Peshtigo coach Warren Howard said.
Parrett also served as a team captain for Peshtigo this season. His season came to an end in what Howard called a "heart-breaker" in regionals.
Kewaunee's Jack Severin was named the wrestler of the year in the Packerland.
