Rosann M. Cook, 77, of Suring, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019. Born on Nov. 5, 1941 to the late Lawrence and Zola (Yates) Heimberger in East Chicago, Ind. she grew up in Highland, Ind. She attended Griffith High School and met the love of her life, Bill. On May 28, 1960, they were married in Hessville Christian Church in Hammond, Ind. Together, they raised four children in Highland, Ind.
She earned her degrees at Purdue University and went on to teach English and Literature at Purdue Calumet in Hammond, Ind. She also taught dance for many years at Jeannie's Dance Studio in Griffith, Ind. The couple retired and moved to Suring in 2005 and enjoyed living the good life on the lake. She loved reading, sewing, dancing, gardening, water activities and being on the lake. She was an active member at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church and served as the head of Christian Education for a couple of years.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; three children, Robyn (Tim) Smith, William (Glorinda) Cook, and Rosann (Andy) Parra; two siblings, Craig (Dianna) Heimberger and Vaughn (Jim) Kistler; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Donna (Jim) Fitch, Jackie (Bobby) Burns, Sharon Murray, and Linda Thompson; a brother-in-law, Jerry (Tiena) Cook. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rod Cook; two sisters, Vicki Heimberger and Lareen Heimberger; two brothers-in-law, John Murrary and Tom Thompson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, Suring, from 4 to 8 pm. Visitation resumes on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Suring, from 9:30 am until the funeral service at 11 am with Pastor Fred Mai officiating. She will be interred in Hickory Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
