Issue Date: May 29, 2019
Nancy E. Brofka, 69, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 after a valiant six-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born July 2, 1949 in Phillips to John and Florence (Hendrickson) Brofka, moving to Marinette as a toddler with her family.
As a young adult she lived in the Carney-Spalding area where she worked at Frigo Foods for 15 years. In 1991 she returned to Marinette, working at Ansul/Tyco for 23 years until her retirement in July of 2014. Nancy grew up attending St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
She enjoyed bowling, shopping and painting, danced a good polka and loved horses, fishing and bird watching. She was always ready for a coffee clutch with the girls, visiting friends and family, especially her nieces, and talking old times with her cousins. Nancy was up to date with technology and thoroughly enjoyed Facebooking and using Netflix. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Brian Brofka (Christina) of DePere; six grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Drong and Mary E. Fournier; brothers, John, Jr. (Debbie), Bill (Cathy) and Jeff (Kathy); nieces, nephews and many cousins; and special friends, Tess, Liz and Grace.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, from 4 until 7 p.m. A service will follow with the Rev. Glenn Kanestrom officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee.
