Betsy E. (Ross) Roetzer, 98, of Marinette, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2019 at the Luther Home surrounded by family.
Born May 28, 1921, to the late Fred and Edith (Bailke) Ross in Shawano, she attended eight years of Lutheran Parochial School in Shawano and three years of High School in Menominee. On June 24, 1939, she married Bernard "Bud" Roetzer in Marinette and he preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 2007. She worked at Marinette General Hospital for 26 years and was the original President of AFCME Union until retirement.
A member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, they enjoyed traveling after retirement, especially to Germany where his father was born in the small town of Rötz (which is where the family name came from) and where relatives still lived on the family farm.
She loved to dance and they were often the first dancers on the floor. She also enjoyed supplying her "home baked beans" for family and friend's parties and made many hand crocheted kitchen towels and doilies as gifts. She enjoyed every minute of 68 years being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Survivors include four sons, Daniel (Donna) Roetzer of Menominee, Larry (Marlene) Roetzer of Marinette and Michael (Genevieve) Roetzer and Patrick (Nancy) Roetzer, both of Benicia, Ca; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bud, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lana Gustafson.
Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Tuesday, July 23 from 3 p.m. until time of services at 5:30 p.m. Rev. Mark Laatsch will officiate, with burial in Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Marinette.
