Marinette Comes Away With Win Over Menominee

The Marinette Post 39 baseball team handed their opponents, the visiting Green Bay South West boys a hard loss Wednesday night 10-2 at Pedersen Ball Park.
Starting their scoring push in the second inning the Marinette boys looked to Brandon Eick who led off the inning with a double. A short while later Eick made it to the plate thanks to a Will LaLonde single. A squeeze play by Trevor Bloch gave Marinette their second run of the game.
Nick Teteak excited the fans in the third inning when he raised them to their feet with a solo home run that left Marinette with a 3-1 lead.
Then came the fifth, and with it a strong push from the Marinette boys. Jaden Werner got things going in that inning with a walk. Werner made it home off a Nolan Lemke single while Lemke added another run off a single by LaLonde. Mason Risner walked for another run.
With bases loaded Trevor Bloch made contact with a pitch. but an error allowed a waiting Brandon Eick to cruise home. Then a wild throw in the next at bat resulted in three runners being plated resulting in a 10-1 readout by the end of the inning.
Green Bay managed one run in the final inning to give themselves two total.
Bretl took the win on the mound for Marinette allowing two hits, four walks and no earned runs while striking out four.
LaLonde led at the plate with a two of four showing with two RBIs. Eick was one of four with two runs while Teteak was two of four with a home run.
Up of Season
The Marinette Post 39 boys avoided a season sweep by the Menominee Red Wave last Thursday night at Spies field when they handed Menominee a 6-3 loss.
Menominee's defense started the game a bit shakey as Trevor Bloch was struck by a pitch to give Marinette their first base of the game. Hunter Woulf capitalized on the opportunity with a single that brought Bloch home for the 1-0 lead.
In the next inning Menominee regained their composure as Jason Janquardt and Alex Hansen both found a way to swat singles. Buddy Beyer walked next to load the bases and a passed ball gave Janquardt an opening at the plate to give the game a 1-1 score.
The scoring march continued at a slow pace as Marinette made it a 2-1 game in the third with a single from Woulf that scored Jaden Werner.
Then in the fifth Menominee was able to capture the lead with a with a two run push. Zach Starzynski led off with a base off an error followed by Jason Rivard who also reached off an error. The error during Rivard's at bat gave Starzynski the plate. Hanson hit a single next to score Rivard for the lead.
The seventh saw Marinette load the bases before Brandon Eick hit a single to drive home two runs for the 3-3 tie. Woulf who was one of the runners to load the bases went home off a passed ball while Mason Risner hit a single that scored Nolan Lemke and Eick for the 6-3 lead.
Seth Seefeldt took the win for Marinette allowing six hits, three runs (two earned) and three walks while striking out five.
Alex Hansen was saddled with the loss allowing two hits, four runs (three earned) and three walks while striking out one.
At the plate Marinette was led by Woulf who was three of three with a run and two RBIs. Eisner was one of three with two RBIs while Eick went one of four with a run and an RBI.
Menominee's Janquardt was two of three with a run while Hanson was two of four with an RBI. Beyer went one of three.

Loss to Green
The Marinette Post 39 varsity squad had some tough goings this past Saturday at Pedersen Ball Park as the Green Bay Shocker blasted them for a 17-8 defeat.
It was a game of errors as Marinette piled up seven error along the way in the loss.
Though they fell by a substantial amount it was the Marinette Boys who took the lead first.
The first inning saw Nick Teteak swat an RBI fly out while the second inning saw trevor Bloch hit in Nolan Lemke and Will LaLonde off a double.
A six run third inning by the shocker started to sap Marinette of its momentum.
With a run in the fourth inning the Shockers were holding an 11-3 lead.
Marinette started to show life in the fifth when Joe Bezio singled followed by a walk by Trevor Bloch. Jade Werner loaded the bases during the inning with a single.
Teteak scored Bezio off a sac fly while Hunter Woulf smacked a two RBI single to narrow the led to 11-6.
But a two run sixth inning and a four run seventh would give Green Bay more than enough to overcome an chance of a comeback.
Woulf took the loss for Marinette allowing eight runs, eight hits, eight walks and two strike outs.
At the plate Bloch was three of three while Bretl went two of four. Seth Seefeldt was one of two.
