Margaret (Meintz) Mellinger, 95, of Green Bay, formerly of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019 in Green Bay.
Born May 29, 1924 in Daggett, Mi., to the late August and Margret (Dahl) Meintz, she married John Mellinger on June 2, 1945 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1995.
After her marriage, during the World War II era, she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" and they also owned and operated Mellinger Insurance for many years. A member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, she was devoted to her religion. She enjoyed casino bus trips where she met some of her best friends.
She is survived by four sons, Jack (Sharon) Mellinger of Escanaba, Mi., Robert (Mary) Mellinger of Suamico, Mark (Gail) Mellinger of Valders and Gerald (Tammy) Mellinger of Ashwaubenon; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Sandy) Mellinger and Don (Marie) Mellinger; a sister-in-law, Kathy Mellinger and special friends, Bonnie and Jim Sitar.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John; a son, David Mellinger; a daughter, Mary Mellinger and seven siblings, Harvey Meintz, Erna Lewis, Elsie Meintz, Sam Meintz, Eleanor Kramer, Betty Swaningson and Rita Warner.
A Memorial Visitation was held Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Precious Blood Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until time of the Rosary at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Edward Baafi officiated with burial in the Stephenson Township Cemetery. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson assisted the family with arrangements.
