Thomas G. Cooper, 87, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019 at home surrounded by family.
Born Aug. 3, 1932 in Menominee, to Thomas E. and Frieda (Willison) Cooper, he served in the United States Army Infantry during the Korean Conflict from October of 1952 until an Honorable Discharge in February of 1954. On July 6, 1956, he married the former Rosemary Jane Ryan in Menominee. He retired from Waupaca Foundry in Marinette in 1998 after 21 years.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, watching football, visiting with friends at various restaurants, drinking coffee and always had a story to tell about his younger years, but his passion was playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include four sons, Thomas W. (Jenny Molitor), Duane D. (Kelly), Todd P. (Lisa) and Scott M. (Lori); many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; Forest Klitzke who was like a grandson; a brother, Loren Cooper; a sister, Mary Perosa and sisters-in-law, Carol Cooper, Betsy Cooper, Millie Cooper and Nancy LaFond.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Jane Cooper; four brothers, Richard, Roy, Wallace and Roger; two sisters, Betty and Patsie and his step-father, Samuel Cooper.
Family will receive friends at Cadieu Funeral Home in Menominee on Thursday, Aug. 29 from 3 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 5 p.m., with Deacon Steve Gretzinger officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery on Friday, Aug. 30 at 9 a.m. with Military Honors conducted by the Military 20 Year Club.
