Lisa Rowe Named To Replace Robert Mraz As Assistant DA
Issue Date: August 30, 2019
Long-time Oconto County Assistant District Attorney Robert Mraz retired at the end of June. Lisa Rowe, who has been employed for the past 15 years as a University of Wisconsin professor teaching interpersonal communication and public speaking, was recently hired to replace him.
Rowe served as Assistant District Attorney in Kenosha County during 1998 and 1999 and then filled the same position in Sheboygan County until 2004, when she accepted the UW professor position.
Rowe is a Wisconsin native who earned a BFA degree from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and a law degree from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX, where she also earned a master's in international relations.
Mraz was hired as Oconto County's first Assistant District Attorney in 1981, and also worked as Oconto County Corporation Counsel. He held both half-time positions until 2013, when additional state funding made it possible for Oconto County to increase the Assistant DA post to full time and he was named to fill it.
Oconto County Circuit Court Judges Michael T. Judge and Jay N. Conley had high praise for Mraz' work as an assistant DA, as did District Attorney Edward Burke. Conley served as DA in Oconto County with Mraz as his assistant for 19 yeas before becoming a judge in 2010.
Mraz also served many years as Oconto City Attorney, and left that position in 2011.
