Major Pearl Rae (Hanson) Palomaki, of Marinette, a retired Salvation Army Officer passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019 at Sun Valley Homes II under the care of ministries and Unity Hospice, due to heart failure.
Born April 16, 1932 at home in Menekaunee, to John Norman and Ruth (Jossart) Hanson, she was the first of two daughters. She met her husband to be, Cadet G. Howard Palomaki while in training and they married on Sept.10, 1955. They had four children, Joel Howard of Champaign, Ill., Randall Lee and Steven Lowell, both of Eau Claire and Joy Catherine of Leavenworth, Ks.
They retired from active Officership in 1997 after 54 years of service and chose Marinette as their retirement home, living next to the house she was born in. She continued participation in the Salvation Army until her declining health.
During their Officership, they traveled to Canada, the British Isles, Jordan and Israel, often with fellow Salvationists. She was proud to represent Menekaunee, Marinette and the Green Bay Packers wherever she went and recently wore her green and gold Packer wear on game day.
A private Committal Service is planned for a later date. Cremation services are being provided by Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette.
