Issue Date: November 14, 2019
Constance (Connie) Lee Watz, 72, of Oconto, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019.
Born Jan. 28, 1947, to the late Charles and Leona Slawinski, she lived a full life with a career as a secretary for Ansul. In her fourth decade, it was time for a change as she earned an Associates Degree in Nursing from Bay College. After 52 years in Wisconsin, she relocated to Arizona where she had a successful nursing career for several years. Later she missed being close to family and returned to Wisconsin, retiring in Oconto where she was a travel/tour guide for Lamers Bus Company.
She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed seeing their accomplishments, spending many hours at practices and games in Wisconsin and on the phone with her grandchildren in Ohio listening to their adventures in school, talking about their sports accomplishments and the friends they played with that day.
She was fascinated by weather events, enjoyed a good January blizzard, a Spring thunderstorm or a beautiful Fall day of vibrant colors. She loved travel and looked forward to discovering new places, sampling local cuisine and meeting new people.
She is survived by a son, Eric (Cori) Watz; a daughter, Melissa Chmela (Darren Teteak); four grandchildren; ex-spouse, Ken Watz; two sisters, Carol (Phil) Marbes and Cindy (Tim) Heim; nieces; nephews; cousins and many special friends.
Her parents preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Life with a luncheon will be held at Bayside Senior Living, 237 Cook Ave. Oconto on Saturday, Nov. 16 at noon. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family.
