Lawrence Walter Godlewski, Sr., 65, of Menominee, Mich. passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 in De Pere. He was born in Menominee on March 12, 1954 to the late Walter and Mary Ann (Lewandowski) Godlewski, and graduated from Menominee High School class of 1972.
He was a member of Resurrection Parish in Menominee. He worked for the City of Menominee, starting in the street department and later was an assistant engineer. He left the city and was the owner/operator of P&L Trucking and Wild Rice Transportation, and later worked part time driving the Senior Citizen bus at the Menominee Senior Center and was a clerk at Krist Oil.
He enjoyed hunting and woodworking and liked to tinker with different things but mostly with his vast collection of cars.
Survivors include his daughter, Caitlin (Ken) Godlewski-Haberland and her mother, Peggy (Richard) Smith, Jr.; a son, Lawrence (Marcy) Godlewski, Jr. and his mother, Christine Crevcoure; a sister, Jeannette (Bruce) Groulx; a brother, George (Jan) Godlewski; and two grandchildren, and other family members and friends.
Visitation took place at the Cadieu Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 11 from 4 to 6 pm. The Vigil prayer service was at 6 pm with Deacon Chuck Gervasio presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated, for the repose of the soul of Lawrence Walter Godlewski, Sr. on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 11am at Resurrection Parish. Fr. Brian Gerber presided.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee.
The Cadieu Funeral Home assisted the family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. The family is asking that any expressions of sympathy and kindness be directed to the Menominee Animal Shelter.
