Issue Date: January 30, 2020
Clifford Norbert Kozak, 68, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020 while on a greatly anticipated ice fishing trip.
Born Jan. 29, 1951 in Detroit, Mi., to the late Norbert and Mary Ann (Wojcik) Kozak, he moved to Daggett, Mi. in his early 20's, where he began caring for plants, flowers, trees and shrubbery in the Kozak Nursery. He worked for over 20 years at Marinette Marine as a Pipefitter and was an active member of the Boilermakers Union.
He found happiness in the outdoors and always used his green thumb to spread joy to others that he also shared with his wife, Hazel (Eland) Kozak whom he loved for the past 34 years. They married Oct. 9, 1993 at Precious Blood Church in Stephenson and they raised three children and shared in the delight of six and a half grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and observing wildlife, but mostly time with family and his many friends. A man who enjoyed the simple things in life, he was cherished by all who knew him. He touched many lives, made his way into the hearts of many and will be missed and remembered as a friend to all and a man of peace and love. He had a good outlook on life and per his quote, "We're all going up".
He is survived by his wife, Hazel (Eland) Kozak; three children, Bridgette Story and Ben Buschmann, both Marinette and Brook (Megan) Buschmann of Green Bay; six grandchildren with one due in August; a great-granddaughter, Lylah King; four sisters, Susan (Jay) Brody, Judy (Roy) Zepeda, Michelle (Tom) Kluka and Cindy (Gary) Pozolo; nieces; nephews and many cherished friends.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by many aunts; uncles and a few great friends.
Friends are holding a Celebration of Life in his honor at a future date with more details to come. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson is assisting the family with arrangements.
