Debra Jean (Nielson) Kornusky, 44, of Marinette, passed away early Saturday morning, May 23, 2020, with family by her side.
Born Aug. 29, 1975 in Marinette, to James and Jean (Parker) Nielson, she spent most of her life in Marinette and graduated from Marinette High School in 1994. She married Mark Kornusky on Sept. 27, 1997 and dearly loved her husband Mark of 23 years and daughter, Lily.
Family was everything to her and loved spending time together. She enjoyed going on adventures and especially trips to her favorite place, Mackinac Island! Her journey led her through a rough road with cancer but she fought it for 16 months and during that time, experienced kindness of so many people. Her kindness brought out the best in others!
In addition to making a home for her family, she was a professional photographer, an amazing woman who always helped others, loved to speak of inspiring quotes to cheer ones day!, always looked to find the positive in everything and her smile lit up the room.
She loved photography, capturing special moments in nature and cherished magical Christmas photos with her special Santa. She will be remembered for many things but most of all as an amazing Wife and Mother. She was an inspiration to all and will be missed, but we know she has earned her wings and is doing great things in Heaven!
She is survived by her husband, Mark; a daughter, Lily; her parents, Jim and Jean Nielson of Marinette; two brothers, Jeff (Stephanie) Nielson of Peshtigo and Scott Nielson of Marinette; her father-in-law, Steve (Mary) Kornusky; mother-in-law, Jeanne (Roger) Krezwina; brother-in-law, Nick Kornusky and sister-in-law, Kristen Kornusky, all of Marinette and further survived by three nieces; a nephew; aunts; uncles; cousins and very special friends, Jim and Lynn Macki of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a brother, Greg Nielson.
Due to public health considerations, a private family service will be held with Pastor Aaron Hubert officiating. A Celebration of Life remembrance is being planned and will be held at a later date. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family.
