Buccaneer's Present Athletic Awards Online

The 2019-20 Buccaneer's Athletic Awards Banquet for the UW-Green Bay-Marinette Campus moved to an online presentation this year due to the events of Covid-19. "Our campus is extremely proud of our student athletes on and off the court. They are dedicated individuals who understand what it truly means to be a student and also an athlete," stated CEO, Cindy Bailey. "We are fortunate to have outstanding coaches who demonstrate and encourage dedication and balance to our student athletes in and out of the classroom."
Under the direction of head coach, Dan Porath, and assistant coaches, Scott Ries and Sara Pettit, women's volleyball athletes were named for the following awards: Most Valuable Players (Faith Jorasz, Ashlee Mayer); Most Improved Player (Kiana Bulin, Abby Wingender); Setter of the Year (Faith Jorasz);
All-Tournament Team (Faith Jorasz, Ashlee Mayer); WCC 1st Team All-Conference (Faith Jorasz, Ashlee Mayer); WCC 2nd Team All-Conference (Sierra Adams, Breanne Bedgood, Brianne Burnett).
The UW-Green Bay, Marinette Buccaneers Women's Volleyball Team were this year's Wisconsin Collegiate Conference Tournament Champions. The Bucs defeated a very strong UW-Milwaukee/Washington team in straight sets to take their first WCC championship since 2002. Most of their opponents gave the Bucs all they could handle and forced the Marinette squad to consistently perform at the top of their game. The Marinette Campus is extremely proud of their coaches and players.
Under the direction of head coach, Tyler Morris, women's basketball athletes were named for the following awards: Most Valuable Player (Bri Burnett); Most Improved Player (Abby Wingender); Hustle Award (Susan Janas); Outstanding Teammate Award (Hannah Swanson); WCC Distinguished Academic All-Conference Award (Sarah Barrette); 2nd Team All-Conference (Bri Burnett); Honorable Mention All-Conference (Paige Reiswitz, Hannah Swanson).
Under the direction of head coach, Bryan Wickstrom, men's basketball athletes were named for the following awards: Most Valuable Player (Preston Lauscher); Most Improved Player (Bryson Groos); Selfless Teammate Award (Jacob Kleiman); Top Defensive Player (Cameron Willemsen); Hard Charger Award - demonstration of extraordinary effort on & off the court (Ty Thomas); Leadership Award (Preston Lauscher, Cameron Willemsen), Coaches Award - demonstration of passion for the game with continuous development (Jordan Janofski), WCC All-Conference Eastern Division 1st Team (Cameron Willemsen); WCC All-Conference Eastern Division All-Defensive Team (Cameron Willemsen); WCC All-Conference Eastern Division 2nd Team (Preston Lauscher).
The campus also recognizes student athletes that excelled not only on the court but also in academics with the following student athlete academic awards: Scholastic Honor Roll " GPA of 3.0 for two semesters with a completion of at least 24 credits during the academic year (Breanne Bedgood, Jordan Janofski); WCC Academic All-Conference Award " 3.0 GPA over 12 credits or more (Athena Cross); WCC Distinguished Academic All-Conference Award " 3.5 GPA over 12 credits or more (Sarah Barette, Breanne Bedgood, Kianna Bulin, Ty Thomas).
