Bernhardt (Bernie) M. Hogstrom, 100, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020.
Born July 18, 1919, to the late O.H. (Hjalmer) Hogstrom and Ellen A. E. (Levine) Hogstrom of Mason, Wi., he served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He then worked for Bayfield County Highway Department before becoming a rural mail carrier for the Mason Post Office, retiring in 1980.
He served as Mason Village President, Assistant and Acting-Fire Chief of the Mason Volunteer Fire Department and was one of the first members of what became the Mason Area Ambulance Association. He was scoutmaster of the local Boy Scout Troop for many years and a member of the American Legion Post 516 for 73 years.
He moved to the Peshtigo Marinette area in 1994 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, was a "rock hound" and traveled in many western and southern states, including fishing trips to Canada.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy J.E. (Tomassoni) Hogstrom, a daughter Pamela J. Jacobson of Weston; a son, Randall H. Hogstrom; a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.
Per his request, no service will be held. Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home of Peshtigo is assisting the family.
