THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Wausaukee Organizations Sponsor July 4 Festivities
Issue Date: June 24, 2020
Wausaukee area residents and visitors will be treated to a big Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 4. Events start with the traditional parade at noon led by Wausaukee American Legion, then continue with outdoor live music, including the popular Daze 2 Nights, and food downtown on Tyler Avenue adjacent to the Chippewa Bar, and an afternoon bean bag toss tournament. A fireworks display at Steve Stumbris Memorial Park on Fairgrounds Road will complete the day's festivities.
Coronavirus concerns had led to a decision by Wausaukee Recreation Association to not to sponsor its traditional Independence Day Picnic at Steve Stumbris Memorial Park. Subsequently, Wausaukee Business Association and Chippewa Bar decided to fill the gap by sponsoring the afternoon music and other outdoor fun downtown. Potential vendors are invited to contact Wausaukee Village Clerk Sara Pullen for more information. There is to be no charge for vendors.
The Wausaukee American Legion Post has a shortage of able bodied members and they are hoping Legionnaires from other areas will join them for the parade and handle flag carrying duties. Floats for the parade are also invited. Pullen may be contacted for American Legion contact information.
The evening fireworks display is to be done as usual by Joker Fireworks, and is jointly sponsored by private donations and contributions by Wausaukee Town and Village boards.
