Fred C. Tessmer, 75, of Athelstane, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 2, 2020 at home, from natural causes.
Born Aug. 7, 1944 in Chicago, Ill., he married Nancy Traylor on Dec. 18, 1966 and they built and operated the Athelstane Gas and Bait Shop for 18 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and time at their cabin in Canada as well as camping many years in the Boundary Waters. He loved traveling and most importantly time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy; two sons, Frederick "Rick" (Brian Baker) Tessmer Jr. and William "Bill" (Stacey) Tessmer; six grandchildren; two sisters, Roberta and Nancy and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11 in Forest Home Cemetery in Athelstane, immediately followed by a luncheon/gathering at Nancy's home.
