
Shirley A. Nordin Issue Date: December 29, 2020 Shirley Ann (Brander) Nordin, 76, of Daggett, Mi., passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 2020 at Roubal Care and Rehab Center in Stephenson, Mi. of complications from Parkinson's disease.
Born April 1, 1944 at St. Joseph Hospital in Menominee, Mi., to Gust and Margaret Brander, she attended Grant Elementary School in Palestine and graduated from Stephenson High School in 1962. She attended Marinette Teachers College and then earned a degree in Elementary Education from UW-Oshkosh. Her first teaching job was at Electa Quinney Elementary School in Kaukauna. On June 15, 1968 she married Robert Nordin in Wallace and after a short time in South Dakota, they relocated to their Daggett home in 1970 where they raised their family on "the hill".
She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at a young age at Bethel Mission Covenant Church in Wallace. She lived in accordance with Biblical Scripture and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Stephenson where she served in the ladies groups, Sunday School and Children's groups of the Church, was a homemaker and a substitute teacher in Stephenson Area Public Schools. She retired in the early 2000's just after her husband retired.
A wonderful wife, mom and Nana, she had her signature dishes that as the kids got older always looked forward to when they were home.
She loved sewing, made Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for all the new babies, her children, grandchildren and many others. She enjoyed crocheting, walking, her flower gardens, could find anything and often gave good advice.
Survivors include her husband, Bob; five children, Krista (Steve) Vetort of Stephenson, Mi., Timothy (Kim) of Cary, Ill., Joe (Jackie) of Wausau, Stephen Anders Nordin of Daggett and Melissa (Brian) Robbins of Alvarado, Mn.; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Elaine Dougavito and Marge (Charlie) Gray and a sister-in-law, Shirley Brander.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Merle Brander.
A private funeral service will be held at Central Baptist Church with a public graveside service to be announced in the Spring. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences or fond memories of her can be made at www.andersondiehm.com.
