THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
2021 Da Yooper Plunge Will Be Held January 1
Issue Date: December 29, 2020
The 2021 Da Yooper Pandemic Plunge will be held Friday, Jan.1 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the UW-Marinette Field House located at 1125 University Drive in Marinette. This year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, jumpers will use the River Cities Community Pool and jump in warm water inside instead of in the frigid waters at the Menominee beach.
The River Cities Community Pool is a non-profit organization using grants, funding, memberships, and fundraisers to keep running. In a typical year, the Da Yooper Plunge would bring in $35,000 to $40,000 to the organization. This year with a scaled-back agenda organizers had some of the jumpers Sue Erdman and Carrie Logan do things virtually Saturday, Dec. 26 and others will be in the pool Friday. Teams were given times to jump so proper COVID protocol could be honored and the crowds would be small. The RCCP team will plunge at 11 a.m., DAR will plunge at 11:30 and the City of Peshtigo will plunge at 12 noon according to Kasey Eisch-Ermis, Aquatics Director for River Cities Community Pool.
