Large Crowds Enjoy Wausaukee 4th of July

Issue Date: July 8, 2021

Wausaukee celebrated the 4th of July on Saturday, July 3rd at 1 pm. A huge parade was led by Jim Brien carrying the American Flag followed by veterans from the area marching and riding on a float. Next came fire trucks from fire departments from area towns of Amberg, Athelstane, Middle Inlet. Wagner and of course Wausaukee. On one of the Wausaukee trucks were Grand Marshals Jerry and Darlene Wojick of Wausaukee. Another truck was pulling a live re-creation of the raising of the American flag on Iwo Jima. â€All Gave Some, Some Gave All†a very appropriate salute to veterans.

A big hit was a Wausaukee Fire truck with a year old â€Briggs†Dalmatian dog on the front riding with Hope Young. Wausaukee Rescue Squad had a stretcher with a live patient following their squad. North Countree Christmas Trees did demonstrations throughout the parade trimming trees. Those riding in old cars and trucks threw candy, Little tykes rode their hot rods, bikes, etc. on a float to celebrate the 4th. Stumbris Plumbing had a side by side and so did County Rescue. Marinette County Fair float with Fair helpers and Caine farms with their float and tractors and from other area business and friends with floats. All added to the parade.

Many people and children lined the streets of Wausaukee and celebrated the 4th in style. Afterwards people went to the fairgrounds for a craft fair, horse show at 11 am, music at 2 pm and 6-10 pm Rosebrook Band and, Mud Runs, at three bouncy houses, food and beverages. Entry was free except food and beverages. According to Lisa Witak, organizer of the fairground event, their was a good crowd, approximately 2,000 people, and the event went very well. The Fair Board would like to thank everyone for coming out and celebrating the 4th with them.

The Marinette County Fair will run Thursday, Aug. 26th- Sunday, Aug. 29th. Early entering will be Wednesday, Aug. 25th from noon to 8 pm. This includes all non-animal Youth entries and Open Fair.

The finale of the day was the huge fireworks at 10 pm at Steve Stumbris Sr. Park. The fireworks were sponsored by the Village and area businesses and organizations. The day was very hot and humid, but it didn't stop everyone from having a good time.
