Coleman Cleanup Day Is Sat., Oct. 23

Issue Date: October 14, 2021

At the Coleman Village Board meeting on Monday, Oct. 11, Village President Glenn Woulf issued reminders that Fall Cleanup will be on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and that Halloween Trick or Treat hours have been set for Sunday, Oct. 31 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Present for the meeting in addition to Woulf were trustees Nancy Stank, James Heyroth, Dave Podoski, Jeff Gosa, Sean VanErmen, Clerk/Treasurer Lori Gross and County Supervisor Glenn Broderick. Trustee Tim Gould was absent.

The board returned budget worksheets and were advised Gross is waiting for a few additional items to include in the 2022 budget in preparation for the annual Budget Hearing which is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8.

The board approved a Tobacco License for Coleman Express, LLC, an Operator's License for Steve Lowery to work at Family Dollar, and a Liquor License for Family Dollar.

A resolution creating election wards as part of the 2020 Decennial Census was approved, with no wards changed from the previous census.

A resolution appointing Chief Election Inspectors and Poll Workers for the 2022-2023 term was also approved without dissent.

The board decided that a closed session that had been scheduled for discussion of Municipal Court Clerk was not necessary, so the closed session was not held.

The Municipal Court report for September was read by Court Chair, Jeff Gosa. The court had a total of nine citations for the Village of Coleman for a citation amount of $1542.40, adjudicated amount of $1542.40 and restitution amount of $170. There were no trials, just cause hearings or case reviews. For the Village of Crivitz there were three citations issued in the amount of $296.40, with adjudicated amount of $296.40 and no restitution. There were no just cause hearings and one case review. Town of Beaver, Town of Brazeau, Town of Pound and Village of Pound had none.

In October the court is scheduled to hear five initial appearances for the Village of Coleman, 19 initial appearances for the Village of Crivitz, and one initial appearance for the Village of Pound.

Dave Podoski read the monthly police department report for September. There were 15 complaints, and five adult citations were written for a total of $722.80.. One other Municipality citation was issued in the amount of

$187.00. Chief Ida Soletske had 163.25 hours for the month of September. Third quarter totals show Soletske spent five hours for work in the Town of Pound, half an hour for the Town of Beaver and 13 hours for the Village of Pound.

Podoski also read the monthly fire department report. The department responded to one call in September, lift assist with Coleman Rescue., for 1.25 hours. Total calls for the fire year are 44. Training was on ladders. Podoski said the fire Department is busy with show & tell for the younger children at Coleman Schools. Booyah sale went well with the welcoming of Olympic Gold Medalist Matt Lesperance, and the first ever Holiday Raffle.

Treasurer's report showed the village has $1,260,367.35 cash on hand, and since the last meeting checks were written totaling $21,354.52.

Building permits for the month were issued to Harley Klitzke for a privacy fence costing $1,600 at 213 Elm Drive; Tom Behnke, for a deck and ramp costing $840 at 136 Zella Street, and Dolores Hanrahan, for construction of a new house costing $300,000 at 363 Maple Lane.

Woulf read a letter from the Little Free Pantry thanking the village for allowing them to use space at the Municipal Building for the four months they have been open so far. The letter noted there had been an uptick in donations during the past month.
