David C. Gustman Issue Date: December 22, 2021 David C. Gustman, 92, passed away in Jupiter, Florida on November 23, 2021, after a short illness. He was born in Kaukauna, Wisconsin on August 14, 1929, the second son of Arthur and Helen Gustman. After graduating from Kaukauna High School, he attended Lawrence University and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwestern University. While attending the University of Wisconsin Law School, he joined the U.S Navy during the Korean conflict and served as a Lieutenant, stationed several years in Japan.
He moved to Menominee, Michigan in 1958 and for many years was owner and President of Gustman Automotive Group. He was also a real estate developer; among his projects were the M&M Plaza Shopping Center in Menominee and the Bellin Health Marinette Clinic.
He served as a board member for many years of the First National Bank of Marinette and was a founder and board member of the M&M YMCA. He was a long time member of the Marinette Elks Lodge and the Menominee Ambassadors. He was also past President of Riverside Country Club, where he loved to golf.
In the later years of his life, he was a resident of Tequesta, Florida and member of Turtle Creek Golf Club. He spent summers at his home in Menominee surrounded by family and friends. He enjoyed playing Bridge with his friends in Florida, Menominee, and online.
His favorite saying was "Take time to have some fun every day" and did his best to follow his own advice. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his three children: David Jr ( Lisa), Kathryn Young (Linley) and Stephen (Janet); grandchildren: Hunter (Meredith) Gustman, David (Caitlin) Gustman, Corrie Gustman, Justin (Jessie) Young, Erin (Steve) Dorn, Travis (Nicolle) Young, Stephen Gustman, Timothy Gustman, Matthew Gustman, Dan Gurtner, Sabrina Gurtner, Savanna Roehl, and Nick Roehl; great grandchildren: Landon Corwin, Kaidyence Dorn, Delilah Dorn, Liam Young, and Jack Gustman, as well as his brother, Tom (Suzy) Gustman; sister in law, Sally Gustman; step daughter, Frannie (Ken) Roehl, step son, Dr. Steve (Dr. Maggie) Gurtner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn Neary Gustman and son, Arthur Gustman. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 16 years, Mary P. Gustman and brother, James Gustman.
Visitation will be held on December 28th from 3pm to 6 pm with a Vigil service at 6pm at Thielen Funeral Home, Marinette. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.on December 29th at Resurrection Catholic Church in Menominee, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent in his memory to the M&M YMCA, 1600 West Drive, Menominee Michigan 49858.
