Kowalski Named Council President In Marinette

At the City of Marinette Re-Organization meeting on Tuesday, April 19, Mayor Steve Genisot presented the City Canvassers Statement votes of the Municipal Spring Election for the City of Marinette of individuals elected on April 5 and were verified on April 11 to be correct and true as compiled from the original returns made to the City Clerk.
Of 268 votes cast for Alderperson Ward 1, Ken Keller received 134 votes to Kathy Korchak's 125. Of 144 votes cast for Alderperson Ward 4, Mike Wolf received 80 votes to Tom Bero's 64 votes. Total votes cast for Alderperson At Large were 1,238 with 635 cast for Dorothy Kowalski and 617 cast for Tom Karban. The votes were verified to be correct as original returns as per the City Clerk with results of Ken Keller securing Ward 1 Alderperson; Mike Wolfe as Alderperson Ward 4 and Alderperson At Large Dorothy Kowalski. All three Alderpersons terms run through April 15, 2025.
Genisot provided his committee appointments starting with the Board of Public Works, stating a Chair for that committee will be announced in May. Members of the committee will include Ken Keller, Jeff Skorik, Jason Flatt, Rick Polzin and Doug Oitzinger; Civic Affairs Cemetery Traffic & Light (Chair - Debbie Klegin), along with members: Dorothy Kowalski, Jason Flatt, Rick Polzin, Doug Oitzinger and Mike Wolfe; Finance and Insurance: (Chair: Dorothy Kowalski) with members: Rick Polzin, Jeffrey Skorik, Ken Keller and Debbi Klegin; Public Safety and Code Enforcement: (Chair: Jeffrey Skorik) with members: Jason Flatt, Debbi Klegin, Liz Mikutowski and Mike Wolf; Parks and Rec: (Chair, Dorothy Kowalski) with members: Ken Keller, Rick Polzin, Debbie Klegin and Liz Mikutowsk; Liaison Board Appointments Include: Equal Opportunities Commission, Council Rep, Liz Mikutowski; Harbor Commission Council Rep: Dorothy Kowalski; Historic Preservation Commission Council Rep: Jason Flatt; Marinette Redevelopment Authority Council Rep: Debbie Klegin; Marinette Senior Room Tax Commission Council Rep: Dorothy Kowalski; Transportation Co-ordination Commission Council Rep: Liz Mikutowski and Water & Waster Water Utilities Commission Council Rep: Ken Keller and BPW Council Rep Rick Polzin. Kowalski once again was elected as Council President for a one year term. Also elected for a one year term as Common Council Plan Commission Representative was Jeff Skorik.

We will also have our high school representative back at the council meeting to keep us informed of activities happening at the high school".
