THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE

Dear Editor:
Our American democracy is currently under assault by those who believe that something else should control our lives. As we struggle every day to repair a damaged and weakening political and economic system while feeding our families with dwindling resources there are those who choose instead to argue ideological extremism while erasing our support systems and strengthening their power and wealth. Is that American patriotism or is that war profiteering? We nearly became an American version of Russia on 01/06/21 as deluded and misled Americans assaulted our capital building and our national example of American democratic choice and majority rule.
We need our best leaders to stand up and defend our most precious commodity, our American democracy. We need our best team players to get off the bench and help us win our ancient game of freedom for all people. Not just for the American but also for Ukrainian freedom. Not just for some people but for all people. This is about sharing, not keeping freedom for all people.
And when this inning is won we must then look around to see who else is under assault. Our American game is 250 years old. Ukraine's game of independence is only 31 years old. They are the rookies playing their best game and beating an ancient enemy of democracy. And yet Ukraine is vigorously defending freedom while we are actually legislating our freedoms away. The most stunning fact is that there are those of us who actually support leaders who are actively erasing our American freedoms. I can almost see our Arlington cemetery soldiers sitting up and saying "what the #*#*! are you doing. Did I give you my most precious gift for nothing? Please be willing to pay the cost of freedom with your participation and your personal sacrifice for others!"
In short, no more helpless talking about your personal irritations. No more promoting conspiracy theories that are not based on fact (you know like Russian propaganda). No more supporting leaders that promote unhealthy public policy or who actively demolish our existing voting rights in order to strengthen their political power or personal wealth (you know like Russian politicians). Each of us is personally responsible for healthy public behavior, for supporting leaders that devise publicly healthy policy and for encouraging legislators that create laws that help us to achieve publicly healthy living.
Each vote counts, especially yours. Vote your conscience, for your family , your neighbors, our fellow world-wide Americans. Vote out the destroyers of American freedom. Vote in the supporters of American freedom. Don't wait. Just do it.
As we have won and are winning our American freedom we must also help others win theirs. This is the American democracy that we cherish, nourish, and share.
Let's live up to the example that our ancestors set. They gave to us and then shared with the world our most precious commodity, American Democratic Freedom.

Menominee
Dear Editor,
Retiring means having to be wise with your budget. When you don't have those regular paychecks coming in, you have to be more thoughtful about how and when you want to spend your money. Now health care isn't an area that you want to pinch pennies on, but it can also can get pretty pricey!
Without the more affordable Medicare Advantage, there's no way that I would be able to have the high-quality care I receive. Just recently, I had two surgeries that Medicare Advantage covered without hesitation meaning, I could focus on my recovery rather than on my hospital bills.
It's really important to have services like this that help seniors budget effectively while also getting the care that we need.
I recently had an opportunity to meet with Congressman Mike Gallagher to discuss Medicare Advantage and I'm very thankful that he's a consistent advocate for the Medicare Advantage program and for keeping senior's concerns front and center as he works in Congress!
As you get older, healthcare is a necessity, and Medicare advantage does not break the bank.
