Anthony Clement Ruatti, 91, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022 at his home.
Born March 13, 1931 in Vulcan, Mi., to the late Joseph and Lillian (Pichette) Ruatti, His father passed away shortly before his birth and he was raised by his mother, Lillian and step-father, Andrew Schubert. Shortly after high school, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and then re-enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving until 1956.
He married the former Alice Mae Nelson on June 27, 1953 and she preceded him in death in 2011. They loved trips to the casino together and after her death, he placed the framed silk photo of Alice, he made while in Japan in the Navy, on the passenger seat, so she could continue to be with him on his travels.
He enjoyed golfing, working in his yard, tinkering in his work shop and there was nothing he couldn't fix. Generous with his time, he always helped his family members with home improvement projects. He had a warm smile, a quick wit, loved to make people laugh and also loved Dads Root Beer Barrels and Milky Way bars. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
He enjoyed the company of his nieces, Kandi Klitzke, Shari Herrick and nephew, Bill Herrick as they helped him live comfortably in his home until his death.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Elsie (Nelson) Reed and Phyllis (Nelson) Robinson and many nieces; nephews; cousins; other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; his step-father, Andrew; five brothers, Lloyd, Richard, Joseph, Raymond and Robert and two sisters, Marcella and Isabelle.
A graveside service will be held with Military Honors conducted by the Military 20 Year Club at Riverside Cemetery in Menominee on Friday, May 13 at noon. Cadieu Funeral Home of Menominee is assisting the family.
