Crivitz VFW Post Has New Commander
Issue Date: May 11, 2022
Crivitz Memorial VFW Post 2063 has a new commander. At a meeting on May 10, long-time member Jerry Swanson took command from out-going commander, Mary Paitrick. Paitrick finished her second stint as commander, leading an organization that donated a record $10,000 to local charities, organizations, and veteran's groups. Swanson takes command for a record 15th time in the post's 40-year history.
During Commander Paitrick's tenure, the post saw a marked increase in the number of competitors for the Patriot's Pen written essay contest and Voice of Democracy oral competition along with a gun raffle that raised $4,000 for the post. Paitrick also committed the post to supporting the "Crivitz Military Service" project at the Crivitz High School.
These activities are just part of the post's many activities which include Honor Guard ceremonies for funerals of deceased veterans, placing flags at the graves of veterans at the cemeteries in Middle Inlet and Crivitz on Memorial Day along with maintaining the "Circle of Flags" at both of the cemeteries and participating in the 4th of July parade. In-coming commander Jerry Swanson plans to continue these important activities. He also urges eligible veterans to join the VFW for not only the comradeship of the organization but also to strengthen the post's commitment to the community.
