U.S. Labor Department Is Investigating County

Starting on Monday, Aug. 21, representatives of the United States Department of Labor will be in Marinette County to do a wage and hour investigation, apparently in response to a complaint or complaints from one or more county employees.

Driveways, Fences Can Be On Property Lines In Grover

Much of the discussion at the Grover Town Board meeting on Monday, Aug. 14 centered around complaints from Tamara Beeman that her neighbor on Bridge Road wants to move a 16X80-foot mobile home onto his non-conforming 3/4-acre lot and has built his driveway on the lot line, just six feet from the propane tank on her lot of the same size.

The meeting was moved into the large meeting hall instead of the regular board room due to the number of neighbors who had come to support her arguments.

She said a previous owner"s request fo...

Emergency responders could include rescue squads, fire departments, law enforcement, emergency management people, whoever is necessary to deal wit...

Peshtigo School Board Shuffles Coaching Jobs

The Peshtigo School Board approved three resignations and three hirings at its meeting Wednesday, Aug. 9, though it wasn't without some disagreement.

Kiley Dura requested a one-year sabbatical as a middle school volleyball coach, with Stephanie Nault hired on a one-year appointment to fill in for Dura's sabbatical.

Mike Fifarek abstained from voting on Nault's hiring, saying the one-year sabbatical was unnecessary.

Fifarek asked whether every coach was hired on a year-by-year basis, and said, "the thing I...
