Receive Certificate-The Peshtigo City Council honored longtime crossing guard Lana Alguire at the city council meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 2. She received a certificate for her many years of service to the city. Pictured left to right are Police Chief Richard Badgley, Lana Alguire and Mike Behnke, member of the City Council and chairman of Streets and Drainage Committee. In her short remarks, Alguire thanked the council for allowing her to work for city keeping kids safe as they cross the roads.

The City of Peshtigo Common Council meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 2 started with recognizing of Crossing Guard, Lana Alguire, for her service as crossing guard.

Alderperson, Mike Behnke, along with Police Chief, Rick Badgley awarded Alguire with a certificate recognizing her many years of dedicated service and thanked her for "keeping our children safe." Alguire responded with "Thank you and God Bless".

Marinette County appears poised to continue severing its relationship with Marinette County Association for Business and Industry (MCABI). Money to pay for expanded economic development services from the non-profit MCABI corporation was included in the 2019 county budget, but with stipulations by County Administrator John LeFebvre that it would not be paid until a satisfactory contract agreement would be reached.

Marinette Rec Center To Open January 25

At the Marinette Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 8, Gavin Scray, Executive Recreation Director, announced good news. The long awaited new Rec Center opening will become a reality on Friday, Jan. 25 starting with a grand opening at 4 p.m., followed by a Hockey Tournament at 6 p.m. The doors will then be open to the public in full force on Monday, Jan. 28.

Small Business Revolution Crews In Area This Week

A 20-member team of evaluators from Deluxe Corp. will be in the Marinette, Menominee and Peshtigo area from Wednesday, Jan. 9 through Friday, Jan. 11 to view the community and visit a few businesses to help them further narrow their search for the lucky winner of this year's $500,000 "Small Business Revolution" prize.

Only Crivitz And Goodman Have Contests For School Board Seats

Issue Date: January 9, 2019

Crivitz and Goodman are the only two school districts in TIMESland with contests on the ballot for the Spring Elections on Tuesday, April 2. There are no primaries needed. Crivitz has five candidates for three positions, and Goodman has four candidates for two positions.

Two veteran Peshtigo School Board members, Bob Thomas and Tom Fischer filed notices of non-candidacy and are not seeking return to office. Jenni Schwittay and Mariel Carter are candidates to fill the positions they will vacate.
