HONORED-Crivitz took time Friday afternoon to pay tribute to one of the districts most devoted employees, Mr. Gordon P. Rieden. In honor of his years of dedicated service to the Crivitz School District, the campus of the high school was named the Gordon P. Rieden Learning Center. "Crivitz Wisconsin has been blessed with many superb school board members, administrators, teachers, support staff and supporters and has produced extraordinarily accomplished students, but the standard by which all now must forever be judged is Gordon Rieden.

"Today we all acknowledge that and permanently preserve that by this dedication," Marinette County Circuit Court Judge James Morrison told the crowd at ceremonies on Friday, May 18 that changed the name of Crivitz High School to the Gordon P. Rieden Learning Center.

County Board To Consider Stricter Mining Provisions

Issue Date: May 24, 2018

Ordinance revisions to make metallic mining a prohibited use in all zoning categories unless allowed by a local agreement is among items on the agenda for consideration at the Marinette County Board meeting on Tuesday, May 29. If the ordinance revisions are approved, any future non-ferrous metallic mine in the county would need to be approved by County Board and the municipality in which it would be located.

Marinette County Board will hold its regular monthly meeting starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29. Among items on the agenda for possible approval is purchase of the Crossroads Juvenile Group Home facility on Schacht Road in the Town of Peshtigo. The Group Home Association has informed the county that they are unable to keep the facility properly staffed.

Peshtigo Legion To Dedicate Viet Nam Statue On Monday

Allen Urbaniak of the Peshtigo American Legion Post 312 announces that the dedication of the Viet Nam Memorial statue will be held during memorial day services in Peshtigo on Monday, May 28. It will be a joint service with Peshtigo Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8813.

Teteak Family Sues County For Wrongful Death While In Jail

The family of former Pound resident, the late David L. Teteak filed a lawsuit in Wisconsin's Eastern District Federal Court in Green Bay against Marinette County Sheriff's Department and others on Friday, April 27. The suit alleges Teteak suffered wrongful death and violation of his rights under the 8th and 14th Amendments to the United States Constitution while a prisoner of Marinette County Sheriff's Department.
