Deputies Cannot Accept Woller Gift
Aaron and Jason Woller, owners of Woller Precision Machine in Pound, wanted to do something nice to recognize the services of Marinette County Sheriff's Department deputies and to honor the memory of a relative, the late Sgt. George Zablocki, who had been a member of the department. However, the gesture they settled on is not to be.
They had decided to give each deputy a $50 gift certificate to a local business and settled on the Gateway Bar and Restaurant in Crivitz. When Gateway owner Scott Busick heard about the gift cards, he decided to expand it by adding $10 to each one.
The cards were printed and distributed to the officers, but now Sheriff Jerry Sauve has directed that they all must be returned.
"We very much appreciate the public support and well wishes, but we cannot accept anything of value," Sheriff Sauve said in a Thursday, Dec. 29 news release. He said the gifter has been notified that the cards are being returned and why. He said he appreciated the remembrance for their relative who was a member of the Sheriff's Department, but repeated that members of his department cannot accept anything of value.
