Lena KC Council Names Family, Persons of Month
Lena-Jim Goffard, Deputy Grand Knight of the Lena Knights of Columbus and his wife, Jan were selected as Family of the Month for February.
He has been a Knight for 5 years and a very valuable member participating in the Punt, Pass, and Kick Contests, Free Throw Contests, the Tootsie Roll campaign to raise funds for the Mentally Handicapped, Charity Raffle, Council card parties. and working at the Lena Dairyfest K.C./FFA Alumni foodstand. He also gave a helping hand putting up the bird prevention netting in the Church outdoor shelters.
A Trustee for St. Anne Parish, he teaches Religious Education classes and serves as a Lecture for weekend Masses. Jan is in charge of the Food Pantry at Lena. Both work at the food pantry on Tuesdays.
They are parents of two grown children and have a number of grandchildren.
Robert Dietsche, a KC since 1964, was chosen Knight of the Month. He first joined the Knights of Columbus as a member of the Oconto Council. After a few years, he and other Lena members of the Oconto Council decided to form a council in Lena when the parish was called St. Charles.
He served in a number of the office positions during the years. One of his volunteer duties is he writes the councils monthly newsletter to keep members up to date on the council activities. He, Dick Gilles, and Russell Glime spent a lot of time doing the Councils scrapbook for 2016.
Dietsche currently serves as Financial Secretary and also spends a lot of time helping with the youth activities such as Punt, Pass,and Kick contests, free throw contests, correcting the councils knowledge contests and helping out where needed.
