THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Rosalie Babicky, 79, of Suring, passed away Thursday, March 30.
Born Dec. 5, 1937 in Brookfield, to the late Emerald and Leona (Buschena) Reed, she graduated from Hartford High School in 1955. She married Walter Babicky on May 11, 1957 and they traveled while he served in the military.
She started a band called Midnight Special and loved playing music with her friends and family over the years. She also owned and operated the Long Branch Saloon in Hintz, bartended at several local bars and worked at Memline. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, playing guitar and her chickens.
She is survived by three children, Kenneth (Kris) Babicky and Deven Babicky, both of Breed and Jackie Miller of Gillett; a brother, Vincent Reed of Montana; her mother-in-law, Lucille Babicky of Random Lake; eight grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter and a brother, Pete Reed.
Visitation will be held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring on Thursday, April 6 from 2 p.m. to 5 pm. Interment will be in Breed Union Cemetery at a later date.
