THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Gertrude (Moczynski) Haluska, 94, of Stiles, passed away Sunday evening, March 26 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Oconto Falls surrounded by family.
Born Nov. 8, 1922 in Milwaukee, the oldest of 12 children, to Paul and Rose (Hopka) Moczynski, she married Walter Haluska in Milwaukee on Nov. 11, 1943. They owned and operated a jewelry store there.
They moved to Stiles in 1970, where she became a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She will be remembered for story telling, caring for others and an open door for anyone in need.
Survivors include three children, Bill Haluska, Silver Cliff, Karen (Jim) Thompson, Stiles and Susan Zoromski and special friend, John Magee, Spruce; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Haluska, Crivitz; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Florence (William) Bichanich, Ruthie (Theodore) Rosploch and Judy (Jack) Metternich; two brothers, Richard (Judy) and Robert (Karen) Moczynski; a brother-in-law, Ralph Hetzel and a sister-in-law, Marion Moczynski.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1997; a son, Butch in 2014; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Haluska in 2016; a brother, Paul and five sisters, Genevieve (Harry) Janocik, Marge (Milton) Bloedorn, Delores (Tony) Miller, Marion (Don) Smith and Rosemary "Dolly" Hetzel.
Visitation with the urn present will take place Saturday, April 8 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Stiles from 11 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Fr. Joel Sember will officiate with burial in the Church cemetery. Jones Funeral Service of Oconto Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
