THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Charles "Pete" Brooks, 68, of Carney, Mi., passed away Thursday, Jan. 19 at home surrounded by family.
Born April 11, 1948 in Doniphan, Mo., to the late Mary Lou Brooks, he graduated from Cooter High School in Missouri in 1966. He worked at Ford Motor Company as a hydraulic repair man, retiring after 30 years. On July 27, 1967, he married Janet McHugh in Ypsilanti, Mi.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and making maple syrup with his family and friends. A member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 487 of Carney, he had many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janet Brooks of Carney and a son, Robert Patrick Brooks, both of Carney; three brothers, Michael (Debra) Siegler of Blytheville, Ak. and Joseph and Elvis Siegler, both of Steele, Mo.; nieces; nephews; two sisters-in-law, Mary Beth McHugh and Robin McHugh Deerfield and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Reilly and a nephew, Jeffery Siegler.
Visitation will be held at Carney Evangelical Free Church on Saturday, April 8 from 1 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Kit Bogan officiating. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson is assisting the family with arrangements.
