All Officers Re-Elected For Peshtigo School Board
Peshtigo School Board re-elected all officers at their Reorganization meeting on Monday, May 8. Gary Larsen was nominated as Temporary Chairperson.
Those re-elected include President, Gary Larsen, Vice President, Julie Meunster, Secretary/Clerk, Kelly Jones, Treasurer, Cory Hess and Deputy Clerk, Bob Thomas.
Chairpersons again re-elected were Steve Coble Buildings and Grounds, Bob Thomas, Policies and Cory Hess, Finance Personnel and Negotiations. Two Technology Committee Representatives were also appointed. This committee meets once or twice a year and it was recommended Jenny Schwittay and Julie Meunster continue in this position.
Delegates named for WASB, Kelly Jones and CESA 8 Agency Convention, Julie Meunster. Chairman of Building and Grounds Steve Coble recommended there be an alternate also appointed in the case of an emergency or illness that the appointee can't attend. It will be placed on the next agenda for discussion.
Jim Meyer, Director of Technology requested the purchase of Storage Area Network (SAN) which is a network that provides access to consolidated, block level data storage used to enhance storage devices such as disk arrays, tape libraries and optical jukeboxes. This is a network of storage devices to store and protect against loss or damage of data.
District Administrator Kim Eparvier said this is very important, "We cant compromise losing all of the data we have stored in the district". The program will be provided by Heartland Business Services from Little Chute.
Three items discussed for approval due to being over the limit of $13,000 were SAN for technology protection, $38,570; Peshtigo Asphalt for completion of elementary play area and parking including patching and maintenance throughout the district, $69,500 and replace new security system for the Elementary School which is about 20 years old, $34,000. All three requests were approved.
Schwittay asked Coble why there is more emphasis put on the elementary and other areas of the district and not the high school. She was questioning if they are waiting for the walk thru observation reports from the Ad-hoc Committee before doing maintenance and upgrade to the high school.
Coble said they are definitely not putting any repairs or maintenance off waiting for any decisions. The main focus is to keep the students and staff safe and they continually do their own walk through in the high school reviewing and fixing what needs to be fixed.
Administration recommendations for hiring were Alexis Whitney, English Teacher, Joe Denny, Varsity Soccer Coach, Kyle Fischer, JV Baseball Coach replacing Neal Henrigillis for remainder of the season and Neal Henrigillis, Varsity Baseball Coach for remainder of the season.
In further discussion in reference to Henrigillis moving from JV to Varsity, is a temporary move for remainder of season contingent on being hired for full time position for next year. If not hired for Varsity, he will be JV coach.
District resignations include Pat Robbins, Varsity Baseball Coach, Heather Walters, Part-time School Nurse and Melissa Sunstrom, Middle School Forensics Coach.
There were four donations received in excess of $250 which included $1,000 student scholarships from Joseph Sparks, $950 from PTSO for band trip/teacher appreciation week, $399.70 from Box Tops for Education for Peshtigo Elementary Learning Center (PELC) and $400 from Mark Hussen for the SEED Program.
The SEED program is an acronym for Students Eat Every Day and provides food for the weekend to students in need, during the school year and a weekly food punch card program during the summer. The program is maintained by the Volunteer Club by High School Students.
